Access to the main functions of www.425dxn.org is provided by the 425DXN App
for Android. It is available on Google Play - free of charge, no ads. Enjoy!
3C0L & 3C1L --- > Yuris, YL2GM and Kaspars, YL3AIW have uploaded to Club Log
the last part of their 3C1L log, which now contains 43,612 QSOs with 14,811
unique calls. About 1400 QSOs were made on 9-10 October, the rest from 27
October to 12 November. While on Bioko Island (AF-010), Equatorial Guinea
they operated CW (77,41%), SSB (17,83%) and RTTY (4,76%). On 13-25 October
they were active as 3C0L from Annobon Island (AF-039). They made 32,447 QSOs
with 11,783 uniques on CW (79,87%) and SSB (20,13%). QSL for both operations
via ClubLog's OQRS (direct or bureau), or direct to YL2GN; email requests
for bureau cards can be sent to yl2gn[@]lral.lv. The logs will be uploaded
to LoTW in six months' time.
425 DX NEWS MAGAZINE ---> The October 2017 issue is now available for
download at http://www.425dxn.org/index.php. [TNX IZ3EBA]
5L3BI --- > The 5L3BI team are now able to share the actual difficulties
they encountered during their attempt of activating Baiyah Island (AF-111):
"Had we failed? Yes. Had we escaped without any injuries or harm? Yes. Did
we make the right decision? Yes. Will we attempt it again in the future?
No", they say, because "after experiencing and witnessing so much of local
customs, none of the team are prepared to put themselves into this situation
again". The full story is well worth a reading, and can be found on
https://dx-world.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/5L3BI-story-pdf.pdf.
"We are ever so thankful to those DX Groups, Foundations and individuals who
have already requested for us to keep their donations and to use towards the
expense of this project. We also invite anyone who has made a donation and
would like it returned to please contact us (dxer59[@]gmail.com) in the
first instance so we can make arrangements to repay it as soon as possible".
QSL VIA G3SWH ---> Phil, G3SWH reports that "the backlog of all outstanding
direct QSL requests for Joe, G3MRC's numerous callsigns (7Q7BP, 5X1P,
9Q5MRC, 9U5MRC, C91MR, C91MR/3, C93MR, C96MR, C97MR, G3MRC, G3MRC/C9,
G3MRC/9Q5, 9X5/G3MRC, Z38/G3MRC, 5H/9Q5MRC and ZB2/G3MRC) have now all been
processed and mailed. Some of the logs are still on paper and I am working
on digitising them with a view to uploading them to Club Log, LoTW and my
own web site (www.g3swh.org.uk). This will probably take a few more weeks".
Joe's RSGB membership lapsed at the time of his passing (May 2017).
Consequently, as the RSGB QSL bureau will not process outgoing cards for non
members, paper QSLs for these stations are only available direct with
adequate return or via the OQRS on Phil's website above.
QSL VIA SM4VPZ ---> Lily, SM4VPZ is the QSL manager for 5X1JM, 7R7R, 7U9C,
7X2JV, 7X2WEK, 7Y9GH, 7Y9LI, 7Y9OU, 7Y9SE, 7Y9TH and 9N7ZK. QSL direct only
(Liliana Aspelin, Hertig Karlsgatan 21B lgh 1201, SE-682 30 Filipstad,
Sweden), as she does not use the bureau. See qrz.com for PayPal details.
VK9AR --- > Mike AB5EB (CW), Mike AD5A (CW) and Craig VK5CE (SSB) operated
as VK9AR (https://ashmorereef.wordpress.com/) from Ashmore Reef (OC-216) for
two days and a half, and logged 8173 QSOs with Asia (50%), Europe (33%) and
North America (13%). On the return journey to Broome, there was an
opportunity for the bird researchers they were travelling with to do a quick
visit to Browse Island (OC-234). The IOTA team "had no choice of the arrival
/departure time or length of stay" on the island, but "made the effort to
get it on the air with 2 stations for as long as we could". 720 QSOs were
logged on 20 and 17 metres between 21.31 UTC on 11 November and 00.40 UTC on
12 November. Unfortunately is was too late in the local morning for Europe,
and "only some got in the log". Logsearch and OQRS for VK9AR and VK9AR/6 are
now available on Club Log. Both the operations have been approved for IOTA
credit.
