4X - Special callsigns 4X75V and 4Z75V will be active from Israel on 1-
10 May to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War
II. QSL via 4X6ZM and logsearch on Club Log; all QSOs will be
confirmed automatically via the bureau.
9A - Radio Klub Grada Zaboka (9A0Z) & friends will be active as 9A1CHRIS
on 4-10 May to honour the memory of Kresimir "Chris" Kovarik, 9A5K
(8 May 1974 - 27 February 2019). A special QSL card will be down-
loadable on http://www.9a0z.com/. Past President of the Croatian
Amateur Radio Association (HRS) and Vice Chairman of the IARU Re-
gion 1 HF Committee, Chris was the author of DXlog.net and a com-
petitor in three World Radiosport Team Championships (2006, 2014
and 2018). In 2019 he was inducted into the CQ Contest Hall of
Fame.
A9 - Special event station A91WTIS will be active on 10-17 May to cele-
brate World Telecommunication & Information Society Day (17 May).
QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or via A92AA. The purpose of World
Telecommunication and Information Society Day is to help raise
awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and
other information and communication technologies can bring to
societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital
divide.
G - From England, special callsigns commemorating the end of World War
II in Europe include GB4VVV run by G0SFJ on 27 April-11 May (the
suffix is the distinctive dit-dit-dit-dah used by the BBC in its
foreign language programmes to occupied Europe, QSL via eQSL only)
and GB75VET run by M0IRU on 1-28 May (QSL via M0IRU and LoTW).
GI - GB75VEC is the special callsign for the Grey Point Fort Amateur
Radio Society to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in
Europe. Activity will take place from MI0MOD's QTH in Lisburn,
Northern Ireland, starting on 7 May. See qrz.com for QSL instruc-

GU - The Guernsey Amateur Radio Society will run special event station
GU75LIB on 6-12 May to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation
of Guernsey from occupying forces during World War II. QSL via the

JA - Once again the ITU Association of Japan's Amateur Radio Club will
operate special event station 8J1ITU from 30 April to 31 May to
celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day
(17 May) and the creation of the International Telecommunication
Union. QSL via the JARL bureau and eQSL.
LA - Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in
Europe (8 May 1945), Hugo, LA5YJ will be active as LI8MAI on 1-31
May. QSL via LA5YJ.
SV/A - Monk Iakovos, based at the Koutloumousiou Monastery on Mount Athos,
is expected to be active again as SV2RSG/A on 7-10 May. He will
operate SSB and CW on 20m. QSL direct to Monk Iakovos Kutlumusian,
Holy Monastery Koutloumousiou, 630 86 Karyes, Greece
UN - Commemorating the end of World War II, special callsigns UP75P,
UP75O, UP75B, UP75E, UP75D, UP75A and UP75POBEDA will be active
from Kazakhstan on 2-9 May during the Memorial Pobeda-75 ("pobeda"
is Russian for "victory"). QSLs via LoTW and eQSL. Two certificates
will be available, see https://www.qrz.com/db/UP75POBEDA for
information.
VE - Gilles, VA2EW (VE2TZT) will be active as CF2T between 8 May and 6
June to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War
II. Main activity will be during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest. QSL via
LoTW.
VU - Special COVID-19 stations from India include AT2SHI (QSL via eQSL,
or direct to VU2UUU), AT2TNX (QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or direct to
VU2KWJ), AT20SH (QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or direct to VU2HIT),
AT9SS (QSL via VU2NSL and LoTW) and AU2STH (QSL direct to VU2JAU).
Additionally, providing assistance to the local governments are
AU2COV and AU2IAG from Kolkata (West Bengal), as well as AT2GOK
from Bengaluru (Karnataka).

CONTEST UNIVERSITY 2020 ---> The Dayton event has been cancelled, but CTU
2020 will still take place on 14 May. It will be held online free of charge
via Zoom, starting at 12.45 UTC (08.45 EDT). Registration is now open on
https://www.contestuniversity.com/. CTU 2020 will end at 22 UTC (18 EDT)
with the presentation of this year's CQ Contest Hall of Fame. The webinar
will be recorded and archived.

for the ten Most Wanted DXCC Entities (2010-19), the 62 deleted DXCC

+ SILENT KEYS + Bill O'Kain (K4LTA) passed away on 28 April. Born in 1931
and first licenced in 1956 as KN4LTA, he was a member of the First Class CW
Operators' Club (FOC) and was very active in many contests. Bill and his
wife Ruby (K4UPS) enjoyed several trips to the Caribbean since 1980 (J37BO,
J38A, J6LTA, J70A, J74Z).
Herbert L. Schoenbohm (KV4FZ) became a Silent Key on 29 April aged 84. First
licenced in 1954 as W0VXO, in 1968 he moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Herb
was one of the pioneers in Top Band DXing, and was the third (tied with
W8LRL) to gain DXCC on 160 metres back in 1977.
