Access to the main functions of www.425dxn.org is provided by the 425DXN App
for Android. It is available on Google Play - free of charge, no ads. Enjoy!
CY9C ---> The DXpedition to St. Paul Island [425DXN 1730] will run six sta-
tions on 160-10 metres, and one station for VHF/UHF/EME and satellite.
At any given time, a minimum of 3 stations will be using the new SuperFox
FT8 mode.
All antennas will be monobanders, with the exception of 12/17 metres, which
will use a duoband beam with a diplexer.
The team will assemble in Dingwall (Nova Scotia) on 24 August. Radio opera-
tions will commence on 26 August and conclude on 5 September (both dates are
weather dependent).
Two helicopters will transport all gear and operators to/from the island,
making this the most expensive St. Paul Island operation ever. As "getting
permission for these sensitive areas is becoming increasingly more difficult
each year", this could well be the last St. Paul Island operation for many
years to come". Financial contributions are gratefully accepted: see
https://t-rexsoftware.com/cy9c/ for information.
LOTW ---> Logbook of The World returned to service on 1 July. "We are taking
steps to help manage what will likely be a huge influx of logs", the ARRL
stated on 3 July. "We are requesting that if you have large uploads, perhaps
from contests or from a DXpedition, please wait a week or two before upload-
ing to give LoTW a chance to catch up.
We have also implemented a process to reject logs with excessive duplicates.
Please do not upload your entire log to 'ensure' your contacts are in LoTW
as they will be rejected.
Despite this request, we have seen several recent DXpeditions upload large
log files, and many amateurs have uploaded logs with excessive duplicates.
This negatively impacts the backlog time.
Lastly, please do not call ARRL Headquarters to report issues you are having
with LoTW. You can contact support at LoTW-help@arrl.org.
Through the end of the year, you may experience planned times when LoTW will
be unavailable. We are using this time to evaluate operational and infra-
structure improvements we would like to make to LoTW. Those times will be
announced.
We appreciate your patience as we worked through the challenges keeping LoTW
from returning to service. We know the importance of LoTW to our members,
and to the tens of thousands of LoTW users who are not ARRL members".
QSL GALLERY ---> The large collection of QSL cards on Les Nouvelles DX's
website has been updated. Seventeen different galleries include 22,180 cards
for the ten Most Wanted DXCC Entities (2014-23), the 62 deleted DXCC
Entities, obsolete prefixes, stations from Maghreb from 1945 to 1962,
Allied Forces stations in Germany (1945-80), special stations commemorating
ITU and IARU, stations using the United Nations prefix (4U), Antarctic bases
and TAAF (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Francaises), amateur radio
"globetrotters", the various French DXCC island Entities in the Pacific
Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Americas (1945-1969), pre-1945 countries,
French Departments and CONUS, plus a gallery for cards not accepted by DXCC.
Your participation is welcome: http://www.lesnouvellesdx.fr/galerieqsl.php.
[TNX F6AJA].
WSJT-X 2.7.0 ---> Release Candidate WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc5 is ready for download
and use by beta testers: https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html. This re-
lease introduces SuperFox mode [425DXN 1730], a powerful new tool designed
to help DXpeditions make digital QSOs at very high rates. The SuperFox User
Guide can be found on https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/SuperFox_User_Guide.pdf.
In anticipation of N5J (the 5-17 August DXpedition to Jarvis Island), K8R
plans to operate as SuperFox from American Samoa on 8-25 July [425DXN 1728].
XT2MD ---> In anticipation of the 31 October-11 November DXpedition by the
Mediterraneo DX Club [425DXN 1725], the team is conducting a survey of the
bands and modes needed for Burkina Faso: https://www.mdxc.support/xt2md/.
