* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or
more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later".
6E, MEXICO. Ramon, XE1KK, will be using a unique and special callsign
6E6E until December 31st. He did explains that this callsign is a one
time only, non renewable callsign from the Mexican authorities. He plans
to use it in the CQWW DX SSB Contest in October and possible other con-
tests. Most of his activity outside of the contests will be on FT8/FT4,
using 160-6 meters. QSL via LoTW only. If he gets another special
callsign for next year it will necessary need to be different.
9G, GHANA (Reminder). Matteo, IZ4YGS, will once again be active as 9G5GS
from Sanzule, Sanzule, Ellembelle District, Western Region (WW Loc. IJ84SX),
Ghana, in the jungle among palm trees and swamps, snakes and crocodiles, a
few hundred meters from the ocean between August 8th and September
15th. Activity will be limited to his spare time (usually on "almost
every evening", between 2100-0000z) on 160-10 meters using mostly FT8
(F/H) and SSB, with a Yaesu FT-891 and 100 watts into a vertical antenna.
On FT8 (Fox-Hound Mode) the suggested frequencies are: 3590, 7056, 10131,
14090, 18095, 21091, 24926 and 28091 kHz. On FT8 (Standard Mode) on the
standard frequencies; PLEASE SEND REPORT FIRST, not the Loc. He will also
be active through the QO-100 geostationary satellite, USB mode. He will
update daily to ClubLog. QSL via LoTW, IZ4YGS direct or eQSL.
ALL VP8 ANTARCTIC LICENCES CANCELLED! Alan, VK6CQ/VK0LD (and until recently,
the holder of VP8PJ for the last 44 years!), passed on the following info:
Britain's desire to maintain its claim over its slice of the Antarctic
plus the South Shetlands, South Orkneys, South Georgia and the South Sand-
wich Islands is fast waning, it would seem.
All existing VP8 'lifetime' amateur radio licensees for these regions
have recently been abruptly canceled by the body responsible for issuing
them (the Falkland Islands Government) and there are no longer pro-
visions in place to issue new licenses for these regions as the VP8 prefix
apparently now only applies to the Falkland Islands.
Anyone planning a future DXpedition to any of these five entities will
now have to get a license from either Buenos Aires or Santiago instead.
The reasoning behind this astonishing action remains unclear.
The last known licensed operation was VP8PJ from the South Orkneys
earlier this year.
Meanwhile, in the Falklands themselves, all 'lifetime' licenses held
by overseas amateurs have also been canceled in the same manner and
such licenses are now reserved exclusively for permanent residents.
Visiting amateurs to the Falklands will now only be issued a temporary
licence for the duration of their visit.
Note that the Falklands do not participate in CEPT and operating as
VP8/Homecall is not legal there.

CB33, CHILE (Special Event). Members of the Radio Club Eternautas (CE3ETR)
are now active as CB33M until October 13th. Activity is to commemorate
the 10th anniversary of the August 2010, landslide in a mine in the
north part of Chile (Atacama Desert) where 33 miners were trapped
for 3 months until their rescue was carried out. Operations will be on
80m-70cms using CW, SSB and the Digital modes (FT8/FT4, JS8, RTTY, PSK31
and SSTV). QSL via PO BOX 12096, Santiago, Chile.
