as 3V8SS from the "Radio Club Station of Tunisian Scouts" in Sousse during
the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power

4X7, ISRAEL (Special Event). Members of the "Holy land DX Group" will
operate from the heart of Tel Beersheba's site between December 25-26th,
2020, using the callsign 4X7T. Operators Ruben/4Z5FI, Mark/4Z4KX, Ros/
4Z5LA, Yuli/4X6HP, Valdimir/4Z5IW, Alex/4Z4AK, Amir/4X6YA, Arthur/4X1MM
and Jan/4X1VF will operate from the site which was declared a UNESCO
World Heritage site (https://www.biblewalks.com/telbeersheba). The team
will start on Friday, December 25th at 0800 UTC, and end on Saturday,
December 26th at 1300 UTC. They will have 3 running stations on 80-10
meters using CW, SSB and FT-8. Reference numbers are: Holy Land Square
- F23BS and WFF - 4XFF-035. QSL Manager is Ros, 4Z5LA.

5T7, MAURITANIA. Tom, DL7BO, is expected to be active as 5T7OO from
Mauritania soon and plans to be there for a long time. Activity will
be on various HF bands. QSL via DJ6TF.

7Q, MALAWI (Update/QRT Date Change). Operators from the Russian Robinson
Club (RRC), will continue to be active as 7Q7RU near the city of Embang-
weni, Malawi, until November 24th. Activity is on 160/80/60/40/30/20/17/
15/12/10/6/2 meters (with a focus on 160/80m) and 70cm using CW, SSB,
FT8 (F/H mode) and Satellites. QSL via R7AL, LoTW or ClubLog's OQRS. As
of 1700z, November 21st, 7Q7RU made 33340 QSOs with 10667 unique callsigns.

 ADDED NOTES (Reminder Again): The "MALAWI 2020 7Q7RU" plaque is avail-
able for working the Russian Team 7Q7RU. To get this plaque you need to
work 3 QSOs with 7Q7RU between November 10-19th, 2020. The plaque's size
is 200 x 250mm. The plaque's fee is 44 USDs or 39 EURs. Payment is via
PayPal (VershkovKN@gmail.com). The fee includes shipping by air mail.
 The RRC team also announced the "7Q7RU Band-Slot Challenge". The purpose
of this competition is working 7Q7RU on as many different bands and modes
as possible based on ClubLog scores. TOP TEN stations will win a special
plaque sponsored by team members and shipped from Russia worldwide. The
top 10 radio operators that fulfill the plaque's requirements first,
will receive a special plaque free of charge starting with number 001
to 010.

8Q, MALDIVES. Operators Marko/N5ZO and Oliver/W6NV will be active as 8Q7ZO
and 8Q7NV, respectively, from the Maldives (AS-013) between November 22nd
and December 2nd (time permitting from station set-up). Both operators
will be active as 8Q7ZO during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th)
as a Multi-Op entry. Outside of the contest operators will be on various
HF bands (working the low bands). QSL 8Q7ZO via OH0XX direct or LoTW. QSL
8Q7NV via W6NV direct.

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Saty, JE1JKL, will once again be active as 9M6NA from
Labuan Island during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th). Activity
will be done remotely on 40-10 meters, so this activity will not be
eligible for IOTA credit, but good for DXCC. QSL via ClubLog's OQRS only
for Bureau and direct QSLs. All the logs are promptly uploaded to LoTW.

CQ NEWS..........
 * CQ WPX Contests Add New "Multi-Transmitter Distributed" Category,
 Remove Single-Op Unassisted Categories -- The following was sent out
 by CQ Editor Rich, W2VU, on November 16th) -- A new "Multi-Transmitter
 Distributed" category is being added to the CQ World Wide WPX Contests
 to better accommodate operators who wish to compete as a team without
 all being in the same physical location. According to CQ WPX Contest
 Directors Bud Trench, AA3B (SSB and CW), and Ed Muns, W0YK (RTTY),
 the new category will permit up to six separate stations in different
 locations (but all within the same DX entity and CQ zone) to operate
 as a single contest entry. This was inspired by innovations being made
 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, but Trench and Muns say the
 new category will be permanent.
 In addition, QSO alerting assistance will now be permitted in all
 single-operator categories except for the "Classic" categories. This
 means that there will no longer be separate listings or recognition
 for "Assisted" vs. "Unassisted" categories, and all Classic overlay
 entries must be unassisted. Finally, Classic overlay stations will
 now have a maximum operating time in each contest of 24 hours rather
 than the previous 36. The rule changes take effect with the 2021
 running of the WPX contests - RTTY on February 13-14, SSB on March
 27-28 and CW on May 29-30.

 * Volunteers Needed for Propagation Research Project --
 From our friends at HamSCI...
 HamSCI (www.hamsci.org) is looking for amateur radio operators
 around the world to help collect propagation data during the December
 14 eclipse across South America. Data collection requires an HF radio
 connected to a computer. There will be 24-hour practice runs on
 November 21st and December 5th. The main data recording will run
 from December 9-16th, to ensure an abundance of control data.

D6, COMOROS (Update). Don, K6ZO/7Q6M (ex-D68GA), is now active as D60AB
from Comoro Islands (AF-007) as of November 17th. He has permission to
be active on 160/40/20/17/15/12/10 meters. He has been spotted on 40/20/
17/15 meters CW after 1700z and again after 2300z. Length of his stay
possibly ends November 24th. He will head back to Malawi on the 26th to
join the 7Q7WW team (Don/N6ZO and Junior/7Q7JN) for the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 28-29th), and then return to Washington D.C. on December 5th.

GUIDELINES FOR OPERATING A MULTI-STATION SPECIAL EVENT (By Dr. Michael K.
Gauthier, K6ICS - K6ICS@arrl.net).....
 Introduction -- It's always fun to work a special event where there is
 more than one callsign, or the same callsign on several bands, required
 to receive an award. For the award seeker, this brings out the excitement
 of the chase. But many times, this excitement turns to frustration and
 disgust when it is found that all the required contacts are not reasonably
 available or even worse, they are not even on the air. Having been a ham
 since 1954, I have participated in many special events as both the award
 seeker and as the event operator. I have seen these problems too many
 times. Fighting unexpected mishaps, band conditions, QSB, QRN, and QRM
 is normal. Not having the special event stations working at their best
 is tragic.

 The Problem -- As an example of the problem, there are 5 stations to
 contact, over a 10-day period. You have worked 3 and realize that the
 other 2 you have not heard. Checking DX Summit and other spotting web
 sites you find that the 4th station you need has been on 160 meter SSB
 and 80 meter FT8 for about 4 hours over the past 4-days. When you check
 out the 5th station, you find no record of them even being on the air.
 RATS! That makes you feel good. What a waste of time.

 Pre-Event Analysis --
 * Do you have an event e-mail contact? Review e-mails several times
 a day, minimum.
 * Do you have a website? Does it contain ALL special event information?
 * Review the rules and regulations of your event and award(s).
 * What is the time period over which the special event will take
 place? Does it conflict with other events?
 * Planning the bands, modes, and times which will be best for the
 maximum number of contestants.
 * When event stations operators can only operate limited times or
 bands. Add additional station(s) to cover open bands, modes, and
 times.
 * Do you have backup operators?
 * Emergencies: Power failures, equipment failures, operator illness,
 and other problems.
 * After the event starts you need to fine tune your analysis, based
 on current operating conditions.
 * Post-event QSLs and Award Certificates. Logging and reporting
 contacts. QSLs, Awards processing, and Delivery. "Not in Log" and
 other problems.

 Recommendations --
 * Use the "most active" bands: 80 Night, 40 Night/Day, 20 Day.
 Other bands as open.
 * Multiple stations using the same call on different bands and
 modes, at the same time.
 * Use all bands/modes, unless it is a single band/mode event.
 * Publish typical operating schedule so the stations can be more
 easily found.
 * Suggest award seekers list contacts on DX Summit and other spotting
 sites.
 * Process all QSLs and award certificates rapidly.
 * KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid.

 Notes -- Be aware of band limits for all operators. Novices and
 Technicians are limited to CW only on a portion of 80, 40, and
 15 meters. On 10 meters they do have CW, Digital, and SSB, but
 only a small portion of the band. General and Advanced classes
 have their own operating limits. Other countries have their
 own band limits.

HS, THAILAND (SAT Op). The Thailand's Amateur Radio Satellite group
(AMSAT-HS) has requested permission to establish a temporary station
(DX portable) with the northern office of the NBTC, Thailand's regulator,
in Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son (grid NK99) provinces in the north part
of Thailand during the period from November 26-28th, 2020, to communicate
via all LEO and MEO amateur radio satellites (including QO-100 NB) that
pass over Thailand using the callsign HS0AJ/P of the Radio Amateur Society
of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King.
 Operators Kob/E21EJC and Tanan/HS1JAN state [edited], "Hence we would
like to notify all radio amateurs who would be interested in contacting
stations in Thailand on its northern border of this activity. Even if
the angle is as low as 0 degrees please try to contact us. We hope to
meet you on all satellites frequency then."

P40W from Aruba (SA-036) between November 23rd and December 1st (Travel
restrictions dependent). Activity will include the CQWW DX CW Contest

of the contest are usually on 160/80m and 30/17/12 meters as time permits
and with an emphasis on CW. Watch 160m on the hour and 80m on the half

T6, AFGHANISTAN. Robert, S53R, who has been active from Kabul since early
September 2019 and will be there for another year, has been active as
T6AA and T6A during major contests. He is there working for the World
Food Program (WFP). QSL via his home callsign or LoTW. He posted the
following on QRZ.com about his low band activity this past week on Novem-
ber 20th: Unfortunately, I have to report that the QRM from many different
sources at my QTH now makes 160m operation next to impossible. While it
was already very bad during the last season, it has now gone beyond repair.
I have installed 3 different RX systems, to no avail. The last nail in
the coffin was the installation of an array of large LED flood lights.
The whole spectrum is affected, but 160 at the bottom and 10 & 6m at the
other end, are worst off. I will continue trying, although I'm afraid
the best times for these bands, for as much as they were, are gone.

TF, ICELAND. Siggi, TF3CW, will be active as TF3W Single-Op/Single-Band
(20m) entry. QSL via LoTW or direct to TF3MHN.

V3, BELIZE (Canceled). Jeff, N1SNB, who was expected to be active as V31AZ
from Belize during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th), has canceled
his operation. He states, "Unfortunately, if I go - my kids will have to
stay home from school for two weeks when I get back until they are in the
'clear'."

VE2, CANADA (Zone 2). Operator Yuri, VE3DZ, will once again be active as
VE2IM from Sept-Iles, QC (Zone 2), during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November
28-29th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power. Yuri states he will be there
between November 24-30th. Activity (usually) before and after the contest
will be on CW, SSB and RTTY, and all HF bands including the 30/17/12 meter
bands. QSL via VE3DZ, direct or by the VE3DZ OQRS. He usually uploads to
the LoTW.

VE2, CANADA (Zone 2). Nicolas, VE2NCG, will be active in Zone 2 from
Sept-Îles, Quebec, during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th) as
a Single-Op/Single-Band (15m) entry. He states that he will be there
between November 26th and December 1st, and will on 40/80m when the

VK, AUSTRALIA. Operators Bernd/VK2IA, Patrick/VK2PN and John/VK4CT will
be active as VK2IA during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 28-29th) as a

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS (Update). Jim, K4QPL, will once again be active as
VP5M from Providenciales Island (NA-002) during the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 28-29th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/"Probably 24-Hrs Classic Over-

XP/OX, GREENLAND (Canceled). Henning, OZ2I/OZ1BII, who was expected to
be active as XP2I from Black Ridge, Kangerlussuaq (WW Loc. GP47PA) in
November and during the CQWW DXCW Contest, has canceled his operation
due to the COVID-19. Instead, he will be joining the Multi-Op Team at
OZ5E from Aarhus (see OZ above).

XW, LAOS (Update). Simon, G6JFY/HS0ZIB/XZ2A, who is active as XW0LP
(Suffix "LP" stands for Luang Prabang, the town in north Laos where he
now lives), has updated his QRZ.com page. He states that he can now be
active on 160/80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10 meters using FT8 and on SSTV
(14230 kHz). He isn't authorized to use 60 meters. Simon currently uses
an Icom IC-718, with an inverted L antenna for top band and quarter wave
fan antennas for all the other bands. He has been spotted on 40/17/15
meters around 0413z and 1000z. All QSL requests for QSOs should be made
via ClubLog. Note however, that the postal service in Laos was suspended
in March 2020, due to Covid-19, and he cannot currently send out QSL
cards by postal. Any ClubLog QSL card requests will be sent out when the
postal service starts again! Please DO NOT request Bureau cards - there
is no QSL bureau in Lao PDR.

YASME NEWS (Press Release, dated November 19th)[edited]. YASME FOUNDATION
EXCELLENCE AWARDS -- The Yasme Excellence Award is presented to individuals
and groups who, through their own service, creativity, effort and dedica-
tion, have made a significant contribution to amateur radio. The contri-
bution may be in recognition of technical, operating or organizational
achievement, as all three are necessary for amateur radio to grow and
prosper. The Yasme Excellence Award is in the form of a cash grant and
an individually-engraved crystal globe.
 The Board of Directors of The Yasme Foundation is pleased to announce
the latest recipients of the Yasme Excellence Award:
 * Brett Ruiz (PJ2BR) and Helena Ruiz (PJ2ZZ) -- Brett and Helena have
 been active leaders of VERONA for more than twenty years, including
 technical activities, disaster preparedness and relief, as well as
 training potential licensees. They act as liaisons to government
 and international organizations, as well as contributing to important
 events such as GAREC and IARU assemblies and meetings. Brett is also
 active in pursuing long-distance VHF propagation and digital communi-
 cations.
 * Bob Wilson (N6TV) -- Yasme recognizes Bob's technical support to
 literally hundreds of hams through various radio manufacturer's user
 groups, to logging software communities, and the detailed assistance
 he provides to Reverse Beacon Network hosts, keeping their equipment
 configured and running. Bob also provides invaluable support to
 traveling hams worldwide when they most need help. Along with being
 technically talented he is exceptionally selfless in using that talent
 to help others, quick to encourage others in many areas.
 * Jari Perkiömäki (OH6BG) -- Jari has supported the online VOACAP soft-
 ware and website, www.voacap.com, for almost 20 years, without compen-
 sation, making world-class HF propagation prediction and modeling
 services available to any radio amateur. He believes in team work,
 acknowledging the contributions and ideas from all of the ham com-
 munity for further development of the service, but especially from
 James Watson, M0DNS/HZ1JW, and Juho Juopperi, OH8GLV. He estimates
 that today VOACAP Online serves thousands of users, with visits from
 more than 100 countries every month, including integration with the
 DX Summit and Club Log services. He is part of the Radio Arcala,
 OH8X team and acts as a propagation specialist, assisting the WRTC
 community, RSGB and others.
 * Jim Brown (K9YC) -- Amateurs worldwide have benefited from his exten-
 sive contributions to amateur radio regarding ferrite materials and
 their use in combating RF interference, feed line applications, and
 transformers. His efforts to improve transmitter performance and
 operating practices are also greatly appreciated, as are the exten-
 sive set of personal publications available to the public and per-
 forming reviews of technical material for amateur radio publishers.
