meters (14235 kHz, between 1800-1930z). PLEASE TAKE NOTE: One report
states Paolo does not QSL. Another report states QSL via his ARI Club
AGNO-Chiampo - IQ3CO.
9X, RWANDA. Members of the Holy Land DX Group (HDXG) will operate from
Rwanda signing 9X4X between November 24th and December 1st. Operators

4Z1DZ and Jan/4X1VF. They will run 3 stations on 160-10 meters using CW,
SSB, RTTY and FT8 (maybe SAT also). They will also participate in the
CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th). QSL via Ruben, 4Z5FI. Special
thanks to Harald, DF2WO, for his outstanding support.

SSB and the Digital modes. QSL CT8/IZ2DPX via IK2DUW or ClubLog.
DEFUNCT CARIBBEAN PREFIX PROPOSED (For South Orkneys, South Shetlands,
South Georgia & South Sandwich). Alan, VK6CQ (VK0LD, VP8PJ), reports the
following: Due to an oversight in the new communications legislation
recently introduced in the Falkland Islands, the VP8 prefix no longer
applies to the former Falkland Islands Dependencies (Antarctic Peninsula,
South Shetlands, South Orkneys, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands).
This impasse has been ongoing since 2017 when the Falklands government
abruptly stopped issuing VP8 licenses to DXpeditions and other amateurs
wishing to operate from the Antarctic, South Georgia etc.
The logical solution would be to allocate new prefixes to the former
Dependencies and the strongest candidates would be VP0 for British Ant-
arctic Territory (BAT) because several nations already use 0 to indicate
an Antarctic station e.g. VK0, DP0, HF0 etc. and ZD0 for South Georgia
& South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI) because it is the southernmost of Britain's
Mid Atlantic territories (the others being ZD7, ZD8 & ZD9).
Both these prefixes are available and have never been allocated before.
They are eminently suitable for these locations and are probably what
most DXers would prefer. Note that BAT and SGSSI are separate British
Overseas Territories and therefore each requires its own separate prefix.
The Falkland Islands Communications Regulator has never invited any public
consultation on this matter, nevertheless VP0 and ZD0 have been previously
suggested to him as the logical choices for these rare DX locations. Unfor-
tunately, these suggestions seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
Instead, it is now rumored that the Falklands Government is about to
revive a defunct Caribbean prefix (VP4, formerly Trinidad & Tobago) and
apply it to two separate British territories in the Antarctic by sub-
dividing the suffix e.g. VP4 Axx for SGSSI (South Georgia and South
Sandwich) and VP4 Bxx for BAT (Antarctic Peninsula, South Orkneys & South
Shetlands).
For more details, see the various posts on https://www.openfalklands.com/
If you think that resurrecting a defunct Caribbean prefix for use in
the Antarctic and subdividing the suffix is a really bad idea and wish
to lobby for a proper solution with new prefixes to be implemented you
should contact the following Falkland Islands government officials as
soon as possible and make your sentiments known:
regulator.telecoms@sec.gov.fk
headoflegalservices@sec.gov.fk
If the worldwide amateur radio community shouts loudly enough, we just
might get a couple of new prefixes and a satisfactory resolution to this
ongoing five year old stalemate.

August 6-9th and Rarotonga Island (OC-013) between August 9-19th signing
as E51AAO. Activity will be holiday style mainly on 40 and 20 meters SSB.
Most likely place to find him is on the ANZA DX Net (14183 kHz at 0515z)
and will probably hang around after the net for some QSOs. His rig will
be a Yaesu FT857D with 75-100w (depending on PSU) into a SOTA beams linked
dipole. QSL via ZL1AAO, direct or by the Bureau. He is not sure about
using ClubLog yet. NO LoTW or Website. He states, "Unlikely to have
internet access from Atiu. May have occasional email via cellphone when
on Rarotonga. This is HOLIDAY first type operation so DXing takes second
place."

JW, SVALBARD. Operators Mikhail/LB8CG and Lauris/LB1RH will be active as
JW/LB8CG and JW/LB1RH from Svalbard between August 5-8th. The main purpose
for this DXpedition is to activate 3 SOTA summits (depending on weather)
on August 5th and 7th. On August 6th and 8th, they will be active from
Longyearbyen. Activity will be on 40-17 meters using CW and SSB (possibly
other bands and modes). QSL via the Bureau.
JW0W SVALBARD DXPEDITION NEWS (Wrap-Up). Kenneth, LA7GIA, posted the following
on FaceBook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/288876866220488), July 28th
[edited]: JW0W log has been uploaded to M0OXO OQRS system today as well as
ClubLog (no OQRS). Thanks to Charles for taking on this job!
The complete log will be uploaded to LoTW ASAP.
We made more than 16,000 Qs from this Arctic QTH in 4 days with 6
operators which we are satisfied with.
Signals were sometimes S9+ especially on the 20m VDA while signals
were weak from time to time on other bands, also with flutter and
difficult conditions. 40m had disappointing conditions, and 20m was
our best band as predicted. 60m the last day was excellent!
17m and also 30m showed to be good bands. 5% of QSOs were with Zone
3, and 15% with Zone 25.
We made 63% CW QSOs and 27% SSB and 10% FT8. Our antennas performed
well, but during bad wx several antennas also fell down and the team
were busy keeping the antenna farm up.
Some team members also made individual QSOs with their own callsigns
the last day JW7GIA, JW7THA and JW8OM - QSL for those callsigns via
homecalls.
We have received abt $1600 in donations while our budget was $16,000
due to expensive vessel cost.
Our paypal is (jw0wpk@gmail.com) if you want to contribute to cover
some of the expenses. If you made an upfront donation, you will receive
a direct card - no need to OQRS.
Thanks for being in the pileup - we hade great fun working you!
73 JW0W team

NEW FEATURE ON CLUBLOG (Grid Square Maps): Michael, G7VJR, has announced
the following on July 24th and 27th:
24th: Hi folks -- Back in April when the satellite features of ClubLog
went live, I started planning the grid square map feature too.
This is basically aimed at VHF/UHF and satellite users, but it's
available for all QSOs: https://clublog.org/gridsquares.php
Please remember that ClubLog only started collecting locators
in April! The locators provided by ClubLog users are used to
fill in, but for best results (if have locator squares in your
ADIF file) you might like to clear, and upload in full.
Have fun! The maps are pretty!
27th: Hi folks -- A few small changes:
1) ClubLog can now read in extra grids from the VUCC_GRIDS
field, allowing more than one grid per QSO. This is to
support crossing grids (i.e. QSOs where a station is on
the exact boundary of grids).
2) Merging now works. If you upload an ADIF which contains
grids etc. then they are merged in. No need to clear your
log anymore.
3) Real time logging now returns "Updated" rather than "Dupe"
when updates are made to an existing QSO.
Thanks to Dave, AA6YQ, for the tip about VUCC_GRIDS and Dave,
N9FN, for his (amazing) test log which helped immeasurably
with this.
