First Worry Later".
5E9, MOROCCO (Special Event). Raji, CN8QR, will activate with special
callsign 5E9QR from Marrakesh, Morocco, between August 16-29th. Activity
is to celebrate "Youth Day", and the 59th birthday of HM King Mohammed VI.
The radio amateurs of Morocco celebrate this Day "present to the Sover-
eign their respectful wishes for happiness and long life." Activity will
be on various HF bands. QSL via CN8WW.
5R, MADAGASCAR. Elvira, IV3FSG, who was recently active as 5X3R, will be
active as 5R8LH from Madagascar (AF-013) between August 1st and September
9th. Usually, activity will be limited to her spare time on 80-10 meters
using SSB, RTTY and PSK31. She is there working on a project for the
Informatici Senza Frontiere ONLUS. She is looking for some financial
support. QSL via IK2DUW, direct, by the Bureau, ClubLog and LoTW.
8A400, INDONESIA (Special Event). Operator Buyung/YC2BYG, Tamtomo/YC2HFO,
Wawan/YC2KDU and Saiful/YC2OQR will activate the special callsign 8A400KJN
to celebrate the 400th Pekalongan County Anniversary. Activity will be on
80/40/2 meters SSB and 40/15 meters FT8. Listen for QSL info.
8P, BARBADOS (SAT Op). Philippe, EA4NF, will be active as 8P9NF from
Barbados (NA-021; WW Loc. GK03), in the Lesser Antilles of the West
Indies and the most easternly part of the Caribbean Islands, between
August 8-12th. He will operate using his portable FM/Linear satellite
station. Setup will be a Yaesu FT818ND, Yaesu FT817ND, and an Arrow
antenna added to a Kenwood TH-d7 (HT) into a whip antenna to cover short,
mid and long distances on both modes (FM & SSB). QSL 8P9NF via LoTW.
Look for updated info on Twitter: https://twitter.com/EA4NF_SAT
9A, CROATIA. Bill, LA8FTA, is now active as 9A/LA8FTA from Pula, Croatia,
until July 28th. Activity will be on 20-10 meters using mainly FT8 with
some SSB with an Icom IC-705 transceiver into an End-Fed antenna. QSL via
the LA Bureau or eQSL.
9N, NEPAL. Robert, S53R/9N7AA, posted the following, July 18th, on QRZ.com:
"6m ES season is coming to an end. Very rarely EU stations were heard in
the last 2 weeks and only a few JAs are still coming through. The more the
season progressed into July the more very specific propagation patterns,
as described below, were observed. June was by far the most productive
month. All in all, a very good season with some 2250 unique QSOs (a total
of around 2,450) in the log, out of which 450 are CW, 2 on SSB, and the
rest are FT8. Europe accounts for about 20% and the rest is mainly JA and
Asia, with only a handful of Pacific and Africa contacts. No North America
worked, although VE1PZ and K1TO decoded my signals on one occasion.
EU openings in 9N are very random, few, and selective - meaning only
stations from a narrow/small geographical area come through, while at the
same time I've been heard throughout EU with very decent signals. Always
wondered how much the fact that I am positioned on the 'wrong', Southern
side and just under the massive 7000+ meter Himalayan wall and EU being
exactly in the same direction, has to do with this very peculiar pro-
pagation phenomena?
The main HF antenna, 2-element Yagi, is down for maintenance and won't
be back on the tower before mid-September. In the meantime I operate with
a small multi-band vertical, so don't expect the usual signals on the
higher bands.
QRM continues to be prohibitive for any normal CW/SSB on 20m and below,
where even FT8 struggles with signals heavily plagued by the local inter-
ference/QRM. Higher bands are surprisingly good with substantially less
QRM. Please note that 60m band is not permitted in Nepal."
QSL via S57DX, direct only, and of course, LoTW and ClubLog will be
updated at least once a week. Please use s57dx@yahoo.com for PayPal
requests. Last but not least, Robert states, "- NO Flags! Instead of
counting flags, you may wish to spend more time on the bands and make
some meaningful use of your expensive equipment. QRZ.COM log and eQSL
are also not supported, hence please avoid sending emails with such
requests."
A3, TONGA (Update). Masa, JA0RQV, posted the following updates on QRZ.com,
July 22nd [edited]:
* "Activation of OC-191 and OC-123 CANCELED" -- I am so sorry but I
have to annouce that my original plan to activate both Niuatoputapu
Island (OC-191) in July and Niuafo'ou Island (OC-123) in August will
be canceled due to technical problems. I will try to continue to be
active as A35JP from Capital Nuku'alofa in Tongatapu Island (OC-049)
from 24th July to end of September 2022.
* "A35JP Started On-The-Air" -- I safely returned to capital Nuku'alofa
on Tongatapu Island from Niuatoputapu Island (OC-191) on 21st July,
and resume QRV as A35JP from Tongatapu Island (OC-049) from 22nd
July. QRV will continue until the end of September 2022. See you
on the air!!
AM30, SPAIN (Special Event). The Federation Digital EA (FEDI-EA) will

specifically on July 25th. For this occasion, the special event callsign
AM30FEDIEA will be on air between July 15th and August 15th, to be used
in multi-club mode through its usual booking system. In addition, the
Spanish PTT has also authorized all Spanish license holders (who wish)
to use, on the same dates, their callsign as special in the following
format: * Changing prefix: those EA to AM, EB to AN and EC to AO
* Adding the number 30 behind the own district figure and keeping
the suffix of their own callsign.
For example: The callsign EA3RKF would correspond to AM330RKF,
EA2CW to AM230CW and EA6VQ to AM630VQ. For more details, see:

Fuerteventura Island until August 1st. He states [edited], "I have no
permanent setup installed and will work with a portable setup focused
on the HF bands (20/15/10m). Also possible is 40m but not the focus
because I have no permanent installation, so I will not work in the
night-time." He will use a Yaesu FT-891 with various antennas and SG239

5th. Activity is holiday style with a portable setup with an IC-705 into
a telescoping whip. He states that his, "Airbnb is a fully furnished
two-bedroom apartment, in a 3-story building, in a residential area and
we're on the top floor with a large balcony that looks to the northeast.
Fortunately, there is also a gap to the northeast in the mountains that
surround us. Propagation on 15m has been fantastic and I'm getting into
W1, 2, 3 and Europe, no problem, on 15m." See the pictures on his Blog
at: https://ae5x.blogspot.com
Currently, QSL only to LoTW or ClubLog.
