So FT4 is about to be launched. This is a contest specific mode to be incorporated into WSJT-X as I understand it. About half the transmit and receive time of FT8. Bring it on!
Saturday, W2JPG, John, in Hawley PA, worked: KJ4LEG -11, N6OA -7, AA4V -8, KE4QVB -10, K4CVL -6, WD4CNO +2 using data. His comments were,
“Surprise! Saturday morning 4/20/19 around 10am, 10 meters opened up to the South (Florida, S.Carolina, Alabama.) Mostly weak signals though. Otherwise the band has been dead!”
Pretty much the same here in the UK.
N6SPP, Eric , says “Thnx Tony- We had few quick openings to our regular pipeline areas today- S.AM,5 land..Condx on 10 are starting to steadily improve here in the SFO region..I think we are seeing the beginning of the Spring/Summer Es Season..(I have a 10m detailed Info pdf on my QRZ page for those interested).. 73, Eric”.
Eric worked PY2VM and KG5YEJ on Sunday. Here is a link to Eric’s pdf. 10m pdf
Lots of AM (Spain) stations about but for me accolade of the week goes to LU9DCE (Argentina). Not only did he manage high popularity all week he managed to spot all his contacts. It all helps to show 10m is active and alive.
XT2MAX (Burkina Faso) had the potential to be top all week but his own words, “Due to circumstances beyond my control XT2MAX went QRT earlier than planned. Sorry for this. We are still in the country and enjoy the hospitality of the Burkinabè very much.”
Ah, tough one for a much needed area.
