Saturday and Sunday weren’t bad but the rest of the week was poor. In fact I don’t know if I had a data failure on Tuesday or conditions were really that bad. Best of them were TI200I (Costa Rica), CB0ZZ (Juan Fernandez Islands), PT5J (Brazil), HS400OZ (Denmark and Thailand joint special)

Sun: Sunspots AR2866 and AR2868 are about to disappear over the sun's western limb. Credit: SDO/HMI.
During the early hours of Sept. 13th (~0200 UT), a dark filament of magnetism on the sun exploded. The blast hurled a CME into space, and maybe toward Earth. Initial modeling by NOAA suggests a near miss (or glancing blow) on Sept. 16-17. The fact that the CME overlaps at least two other CMEs makes unravelling its trajectory tricky.
Something just hit Jupiter: Last night, Sept. 13-14, German astronomer Harald Paleske was watching the shadow of Io create a solar eclipse in the atmosphere of Jupiter when something unexpected happened. "A bright flash of light surprised me," he says. "It could only be an impact." The fireball was fixed in Jupiter's atmosphere. It first appeared at 22:39:27 UT on Sept. 13th and remained visible for a full two seconds.
The most likely explanation is a small asteroid or comet striking the giant planet; an asteroid in the 100m size range would do the trick.
Stoke beat Huddersfield 2 – 1 and move to third spot in the table. We play Barnsley on Wednesday evening. Also we play Derby away on Saturday. I’ll report back on those matches next week.
Test cricket has ended in somewhat of a shambles. The fifth and final test was postponed because of Covid in the Indian camp. They (the organisers) hope to play the test sometime in 2022 but not I think at the Old Trafford cricket ground
