Saturday and especially Sunday were good days compared to the rest of the week. In reality though, as this was the weekend of a very popular contest, it wasn’t so good.
Lots of special calls out there some new and some old favourites.
I’ll leave you to decide which goes in what category. D4C (Cape Verde), VP8LP (Falklands), 9Z4Y (Trinidad and Tobago), P44W (Aruba), LW7DX (Argentina), 3G3O & 3G1D (Chile), ZZ4A (Brazil) and more!
A new contributor this week, Shankar, A65CR. Friday on SSB he worked VU2GRM 5/9 and heard VU3FTP 5/2, A45ZZ 5/5 and A45XO 5/5. He said, “Together with A45XO, we notice 10m openings to VU,4S, ZS and beyond between 1200 to 1500Z . A good sign for 10m?”
We can only hope and cross our fingers.
Sunday, John, W2JPG, worked PY2RSA -13, PY2OKB +3 and HK4NDF -9 all on data. His Comments echo mine.
“Tony, you are right, Weekend is best time for contacts. Sunday 3/31/19 after 1400 DST 10 meters opened up for a couple of hours to South America. FT8 digital is the way to go for weak signal work!”

Sun: One small innocuous sunspot not doing much. However If you're going to blow a satellite to bits, solar minimum is a terrible time to do it. India is grappling with this important truth today as debris from their March 27th anti-satellite weapons test spreads through space. As many as 6,500 pieces of the Microsat-R Earth observation satellite are now circling Earth. (spacewether.com) I don’t think it will improve conditions on 10m somehow.
Stoke City drew again and again it was nil – nil. That’s 4 on the trot equalling the record set by Arsenal in 2009. Blackburn away this Saturday, we need to win.
