IOTA NEW (VK5KI OC-139 Rescheduled). Grant, VK5GR, reports: I am very
pleased to announce that the VK5KI Expedition to Kangaroo Island (IOTA
OC-139) has been rescheduled, although it has also been scaled down. It
will not be coinciding with the IOTA contest for 2020 and instead will
be held during the South Australian school holidays between July 13-18th.
It is also being converted into a holiday style expedition with myself
(VK5GR), Andrew (VK5AKH) and my family. Bands and equipment are to be
finalized but it will likely be only one station covering all bands from
80m to 10m. (it remains to be seen if 160m can be activated - we will see).
We are thankful here in South Australia that the authorities have
successfully managed my home state's way through the COVID-19 crisis so
far. There are no active cases here and havent been (apart from some
controlled travel imports) for over a month. They therefore were able to
reopen intra-state travel over a week ago, including ferry travel to
Kangaroo Island. We are being encouraged to get out into the regions and
help our battered hospitality and tourism sectors begin the long road to
recovery while continuing to observe social distancing etc. Consequently,
many of the other holiday spots locally will be potentially quite busy
as people try to overcome cabin fever from the lock-downs.
Kangaroo Island, which requires that extra amount of effort and cost
with the ferry crossing, should be much quieter, with fewer people and
plenty of serenity. We now have a different venue confirmed on the island
also, which is quite isolated from the main community. All in all, it
should be a great week with some family time, amateur radio and a chance
to unwind.
We therefore hope to see you on the air as VK5KI from Kangaroo Island
OC-139 in July after all!
MARKET REEF, OJ0A/OJ0JR WILL BE ACTIVATED AS PART OF THE CODIC-19 EVENT.
From Helsinki, Finland, June 02, 2020, by Martti, OH2BH [edited]: First
entry group to Market Reef remains on hold in Aland Islands, waiting for
better weather. If all works well Henri, OH3JR, will land on the rocks
on Friday prior to the event and with no further delay he will hoist an
assortment of wires to make the OJ0A callsign QRV as an event multiplier
on CW, SSB and FT8. Many things need to fit in place to have OJ0A
appearing from the sea-washed lighthouse. Henri will remain in OJ0 for
the whole week and operate as OJ0JR. QSL via OH3JR.
STAYHOME MESSAGES WILL HOPEFULLY SOON TURN TO STAYSAFE MESSAGES. From
Helsinki, Finland, June 02, 2020, by Martti, OH2BH [edited]: Be ready to
roll this coming Saturday, June 6th, at 1000 UTC with the following rules:
http://ko8sca.com/rules.pdf
New STAYSAFE callsigns: VC3STYSAFE by Bill, VE3ES, VK20HOME by Lee,
VK3GK and W8I/STAYSAFE by Dave, K3ZJ.
While the Covid-19 pandemic is still causing major issues in many parts
of the world we are now working on two opposite fronts: while welcoming
many countries to the new world with the message of STAYSAFE, we are at
the same time giving our thoughts and sympathy to those who still suffer.
We welcome all COVID-19 related special callsigns to participate in
the June 6-7th event and their efforts will be credited for full contest
multiplier value. You are all welcome to this unique worldwide event.

YOUNG LINE-UP OF NEW YORK OPERATORS WILL AIR MAMMOTH W2I/STAYHOME SIGNAL.
From Helsinki, Finland, June 02, 2020, by Martti, OH2BH [edited]: A group
of four young operators from the NYCDXA - New York City DX Association
(https://www.qrz.com/db/w2ndx/), Chris/KE2A, Alain/K1FM, Jason/WF2N and
Neil/N5EIL will be operating for 24-hours as W2/STAYHOME from a top of
the line remote station located in the easternmost city of USA, Eastport,
ME, during the weekend of June 6-7th, 2020.
The team is thankful to the RHR team and Ray Higgins, W2RE, for sponsoring
this event and for allowing the young operators to access the station to
support this unique event, which otherwise would be difficult to do from
their apartments in New York City. (https://www.remotehamradio.com/)
The young team will add some extra high tech flavor to the operation
by setting up a server for live updates on ClubLog and real time streaming
on YouTube. The YouTube link will be available on the W2I QRZ.com page:
