7X, Algeria:
During July the special event call 7V5ID, operated by Noury/7X2JV,
Amine/7X2VB, Toufik/7X2DE, and Charef/7X4CZ, celebrates Algeria's
56th anniversary of independence. QRV on HF on CW, SSB, and digital
modes. QSL via 7X4CZ (d).
EA8, Canary Islands:
Members of the Group DX Gran Canaria (GDXCC) and others from the
island will be active on July 7 and 8 as ED8RY from Galdar City
(AF-004, DIE S-005, WW Loc. IL28ed) on HF (CW, SSB, digital modes).
The operation draws attention to the Drago de Galdar, a 300-year
old tree. QSL via bureau, LoTW, eQSL, or via EA8AKN.
F, France:
TM95TF will be active around the 105th Tour de France between the
6th and 20th on HF. QSL via F6KUF (B) or F5OEV (d).
F, France:
Laurent, F8BBL, operates as TM18A from the Departement Ardeche
between July 7 and 22. QSL via F8BBL (d/B), LoTW.
G, England:
GB139SQN operates from Langar Airfield between the 6th and 9th. Ops
are Keith/G4NRZ, Garry/M0GLP, Stuart/G6NIL, and Colin/G0FOG. QSL
via G4NRZ.
LY, Lithuania and SP, Poland:
During July, LY85DG commemorates the pilots' Steponas Darius and
Stasys Girenas crossing of the Atlantic and subsequent crash 85
years ago. From Poland SN85LOT will be active. An award will be
available as well. QSL via LY5O (d/B).
OE, Austria:
OE2XXM and OE5XXM will both be active during July in the context of
the 34th international ham radio meeting in Gosau (6th to 8th). QSL
via bureau.
UR, Ukraine:
Between July 10 and August 10 EO1030UA celebrates 1030 years of the
Ukraine. QSL via US8UA (d), LoTW, eQSL.
UR, Ukraine:
Until the 1st of October, the three special event callsigns EM90L,
EN90L, and EO90L will be marking the founding of the Kharkov Short
Wave Club 90 years ago. An award (KSWC-90) is also available. QSL
via bureau.
VP2V, British Virgin Islands:
David/N9DK will be active off-shore as VP2V/ND9K on 80, 40, 20, 15,
and 20m (CW; SSB, FT8) between July 6 and 14. QSL via N9DK.
VP8, Falkland Islands:
VP8RAF/100 will be active in the context of the 100th anniversary
of the Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society between July 10 and
18. QRV on HF (SSB only). QSL via G8FC.

The Radio Club Zrenjanin (YU7AOP) celebrates its founding 85 years
ago with the call YU85AOP until the end of the year and with a

New WRTC Awards - WRTC 2018 Distance Challenge (5/5):
The World Radiosport Team Championship takes place from July 14
(12z) until July 15 (12z) in parallel to the IARU HF Championship.
63 teams will be competing from identical sites south of Berlin.
QSO partners can directly support the contestants with QSOs. In
order to stimulate contacts with the WRTC stations, five awards
have been created, which we will introduce here during the next
weeks.
This award will go to the station which covers the greatest
distance in the contacts made with the WRTC competitors during the
contest. In order to ensure an exact ranking participants should
put their own locator square into their log's Cabrillo header
before sending it off to the WRTC log checkers.
